Upholstery Classes

Have you ever had and old chair that you loved and used so much that it became a tatty old relic in the corner? Or perhaps you have seen a beautiful chair in an antique store that is worn and in need of some TLC?

Then this course could be just what you are looking for!

The course is at The Potters Barn, set in the middle of the Cheshire countryside. Taking place over one or two days in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

I advise to begin with something easy like a dining chair with a drop in seat, a pin cushion seat or a small footstool.

During the course you will work on your own piece of furniture at your own pace, learning how to:

  • Strip the piece.
  • Use a web stretcher.
  • Use modern techniques to replace a chair seat with foam.
  • Use polyester wadding.
  • Use fire retardant calico.
  • Put on a top cover
  • Use Braiding
  • Use staple gun and tacks
  • Use the two main upholstery cuts "Y" & "W2"

Please make sure that joints on chairs are not loose as there will not be time to repair the basic structure of the chair.
